Welcome to Dish on Delish!
About Lee Hock:
I have always been in love with food. Cooking is my biggest passion.
Most of my childhood memories are centered around food. When I was younger I used to "experiment" in the kitchen, which would drive my mother crazy. I have always been artistic and creative. I always loved drawing and painting as a kid.
When I was a teenager, I became obsessed with baking, which soon led to finding a talent for cake decorating, it was an outlet for me to channel my creative energy.
I attended culinary school for 3 and 1/2 years which was nothing short of fabulous. My specialty was pastries and baking, and after taking a basic cooking course I fell in love with cooking as well.
I met my husband, a.k.a King Hock, at a mutual friend's party. He used to own a gelato shop, and he hired me to be his pastry chef. After working there for a while, we started dating. We quickly fell head over heels in love with each other and got married soon thereafter.
I grew up reform without any idea what keeping kosher was. All I knew was that pork was off limits.
My husband also grew up reform. When he was 17, he started studying with a Hassidic rabbi, and started becoming more religious and keeping kosher.
Very soon after my Husband and I started dating, he took me to the Rabbi's house for a shabbat dinner. This opened up a whole new world to me, in many aspects. I was very impressed with all of the kosher food they served. I also quickly became fascinated by my religion in which I knew so little.
I had a strong desire to learn more about being jewish all around. I decided to start keeping kosher a few months into our relationship, and it has been a huge learning process.
When I started this blog, I had 3 young sons. Now, we have added a princess to our family. Cooking has become challenging with 4 kids. I no longer have the luxury of time, but I have found many ways to still make delicious food without slaving for hours on end.
I try to feed my kids healthy food, and I am never hesitant to give them a treat. We try to enjoy life in every aspect with food being one them.
My other interests include: playing tennis, reading, entertaining friends and family, traveling, home decorating, listening to music, and shopping.
This blog is a way for me to share my love of cooking with anyone and everyone (dishing on delish). I hope to inspire people to cook simple and delicious meals.
